malam semalam aku lepak ngn budak2 semesta aku, lepas dari makan-makan di rumah kabin dan isterinya lin.
topik perbincangan semasa lepak sangat menarik, idea yang datang dari satu topik ke satu topik mencurah-curah dan aku dengan budak-budak yang melepak langsung tidak mengantuk.

ianya bermula apabila atan bercerita mengenai kegagalan nya dalam beberapa siri percintaan. bagaimana percintaannya boleh putus dan antara yang diceritakan oleh atan adalah disebabkan oleh pengaruh keluarga terutama mak beliau. mak atan ini dikenali di kalangan kami sebagai seorang yang sangat menyayangi anak-anaknya terumata atan yang merupakan anak bongsu dan anak lelaki tunggal dalam keluarga.

mak atan dianugerahi Allah dengan ilmu yang mana dia mampu bermimpi dan melihat sesuatu alamat, sebagai contoh, mak atan pernah bermimpi mendapat buah yang sangat catik sebelum kakak atan melahirkan seorang budak lelaki yang sangat comel dan budak ini aku sendiri pernah ketemu dan dia mampu menghafal dan membacanya dihadapan kami semua ketika dia berumur 4 atau 5 tahun.

antara mimpi lain yang pernah dialami oleh mak atan adalah berkenaan mimpi mendapat buah yang cantik tetapi sedikit cacat dan diceritakan oleh atan adalah alamat kepada kelahiran cucu mak nya yang mengalami masalah buah pinggang sejak lahir.

dalam episod percintaan atan pula, mak atan pernah bermimpi bertemu dengan kekasih atan (pada ketika itu) yang mana di dalam mimpi nya wajah kekasih atan digambarkan sangat cantik tetapi apabila kekasih atan tersebut mengusap mukanya, tiba-tiba wajahnya bertukar hitam dan kotor. peristiwa mimpi ini tidak langsung diceritakan oleh mak atan kepadanya sehinggalah percintaan atan dengan kekasihnya itu terputus beberapa bulan yang lalu.

pernah satu ketika dulu, atuk atan disantau orang, dan seorang pakcik dipanggil oleh mak dan adik-beradik maknya untuk memulihkan atuknya. dan ketika sesi rawatan pertama, pakcik tersebut telah bercerita bahawa beliau mempunyai keris taming sari hang tuah. menurut beliau, keris tersebut diperolehi beliau ketika beliau bertapa suatu ketika dahulu. keyakinan pakcik tersebut terhadap ceritanya tentang keris yang dipegangnya itu adalah keris taming sari hang tuah sehingga dia sanggup berkata "jikalau pakcik menipu (berkenaan keris taming sari), maka kafirlah pakcik" ianya satu sumpah yang sangat berat, apatah lagi ianya dikeluarkan oleh beliau semata-mata membuktikan keris yang dibalut beliau dalam kain kuning itu adalah keris taming sari hang tuah. adik-beradik mak atan ingin melihat keris tersebut, tetapi tidak pula dibenarkan oleh pakcik tersebut.

pada satu malam selepas sesi pertama rawatan membuang santau atuk atan oleh pakcik tersebut, sekali lagi mak atan didatangi mimpi yang mana di dalam mimpi tersebut maknya telah digambarkan dengan satu keris yang mempunyai hulu berbentuk orang menaiki gajah dan mempunyai sarung yang disusun dengan batu-batu berharga. di hujung sarung tersebut, terdapat satu lekuk.

mimpi ini diceritakan oleh mak atan kepada adiknya (pakcik atan). dan sewaktu sesi rawatan yang kedua sekali lagi pakcik tersebut datang ke rumah atuknya. keris taming sari yang dibalut kain kuning itu pun dibawa bersama. selepas sesi rawatan dijalankan, pak cik atan menceritakan kepada pakcik yang merawat atuk atan tentang kakaknya yang bermimpi berkenaan keris taming sari, beliau menceritakan bentuk fizikal keris di dalam mimpi tersebut. akibat mendengar kata-kata pakcik atan, maka pakcik ini pun menunjukkan keris yang dibawanya. ianya adalah seperti yang digambarkan oleh mak atan, mempunyai hulu yang diukir menyerupai orang sedang menunggang gajah, mempunyai sarung bertatah batu-batu berharga yang disusun cantik dan mempunyai hujung sarung yang berlekuk. menurut pakcik tersebut, hujung sarung tersebut berlekuk disebabkan ketika hang jebat bertarung dengan hang tuah, jebat telah menghunuskan keris tersebut dengan hanya memegang hulu keris dan melibasnya ke tepi lalu tercampaklah sarung tersebut dan terkena anak tangga istana.

mendengarkan cerita atan ini, aku semakin excited, walaubagaimanapun, kami tidak terus bercerita berkenaan taming sari sehingga selesai berborak, kami meneruskan perbualan dengan topik-topik lain berkenaan kerja, law of attraction, qada' dan qadar dan sebagainya.

lepas dari melepak dengan diaorang pada jam 6:30 pagi, aku pulang ke rumah dan terus tidur. dan selepas bingkas dari tidur, aku lalu terus buka internet untuk membuat kajian aku sendiri berkenaan keris taming sari ini. sejujurnya, sebelum ini aku merasakan lagenda tuah dan kerisnya adalah dongeng semata-mata. sehinggalah carian aku di dalam internet sampai ke sini. walaupun artikel ini merupakan satu cerita yang boleh dipersoalkan kesahihannya, tetapi gambaran keris yang diceritakan oleh penulis (Ben Omar) menyerupai dengan gambaran keris taming sari dalam cerita atan (ivory sheath dan studded with jewels). gambaran keris yang diceritakan dalam cerita atan dan ben omar sangat berbeza dengan keris taming sari yang ada di muzium perak masa ini.

ini membuatkan pendapat aku berkenaan hang tuah dan keris taming sari yang aku anggap sebelum ini hanyalah myths dan lagenda orang melayu tergugat sama sekali. dan sekarang aku merasakan bahawa hang tuah dan kerisnya, taming sari benar-benar wujud suatu tika dahulu.

last night debate was the perfect example of what i've been written in my last post "the beuty of argument". the initial intention was good. to explain to people of the realistic to cut down oil/gas price if PR win the last general election. so, does it achieve the objective? or just another drama? but, i sensed there is an hidden agenda for this whole "sinetron", from both debaters.

were the objectives achieved? i can't really say. but for me whoever knows what to achieve and how to win audiences, he surely wins it. i think anwar was not good enough last night. he was so by the book on that stage, he wont attack shabery personally, because, he tried to save time to tell the world of how if he becomes PM he would cut down oil price, some of his idea were good but they all sound more technically and economically, the terms usually used by the economist, not orang kampung and many malaysians actually.

so, are you satisfied with the debate? is the objective achieved? are we really influenced with the facts been thrown to us last night? or just except them without trying to understand? or we just don't want to listen from the debater who comes from the party we hate? think it yourself.

but please malaysians... listen then think. "ada telinga dengar, ada mulut cakap, ada hati tenung, ada otak pikir..." try get info from other sources as well, be independent, research for the truth. persiapkan diri.

Boleh plak before tuh, BU sibuk dok interview Menteri Besar negeri yang diperintah oleh Pakatan Rakyat. Then ada selitkan beberapa manifesto/janji yang masih belum ditunaikan oleh diarang. Coincedence maybe?

BU ada interview Fuck Lah pasal harga minyak, then dia reply something like this "... suruhlah negeri-negeri tu (negeri yang diperintah oleh PR) turunkan harga minyak...bayar sendiri subsidi... dulu masa pilihanraya janji macam-macam..."

aku pikir sejenak, apa kebuduhnya dia ni, kalau harga minyak negeri yang BN tewas turun kan harga, nnt mengamuk la stesen minyak negeri2 yg diperintah oleh BN, sebab sume org KL pegi isik minyak kat selangor. furthermore, harga minyak Malaysia seragam dan dikawal oleh kerajaan pusat, bukannya macam kt US, stesyen sebelah2 tapi harga lain2.

the beauty of argument...

todays entry is about argument. did u know that, with a correctly crafted argument you can win anything, you will never be wrong. that's the beuty of it. but, not all of us is born with this sort of talent, it requires talent in talking and of course knowledge of matter that you are arguing.

that's why the most highest income earners are people who can talk and argue correctly. for example politicians, ministers, lobyist, etc. why, because they were paid to do the talking, to influence people, to argue and chalenge idealogy, and of course with their talking and argument they can effect global economy, take oil price for example, it is because the lobyist making some speculations and argument about the permintaan of oil and suddenly the price goes up.

so what it takes to be a good arguer? for me if you got talent you could be one. talent in the sense of good talker, broad knowledge, wise argument facts and know what topic you are talking and of course who is your target that you want to influence, is it the guy that you are arguing or other people who listen to your argument.

i understand that not all of us have these kind of talent and admit that me too doesn't have that kind of talent. if you look at the world right now, the more you good at talking the more you will be accepted, take interview session for example, most people who could talk and argue the best will be hired, put aside the technical skill that you have, the interviewer will be attracted to people who could talk wise with just a surface knowledge with the job's technical requirements.

below are the dialogue between a father (nick) and his son (joey) arguing about ice cream. (taken from "Thank You For Smoking" movie):

aku cukop pelik dengan 'counterpart' aku kt opis ni. ada sorang minah ni, sama level ngn aku tapi jaga bhgn lain la. aku mmg pelik ngn perangai dia ni, suka mengular ke bhgn2 lain, suka berperangai kebuda2kan yang menyebabkan bulu tengkuk aku meremang, mana tak nya, duk buat suara2 manja ngn kawan2 dia, duk cakap ayat "..taayaang..." aku assume 'sayang' kot, tapi diolah dengan bodohnya menjadi taayaang. sengal. umor dah tua (5 tahun tua dari aku), masih bujang tapi mmg perangai dia tak menyenangkan aku dan beberapa bdk lain kat sini.

dalam hal kerja, aku mmg cukop tensyen ngn dia, keje sini dah 3 tahun, tapi takda inisiatif nak majukan diri, password firewall ngn router pon tak tau, ada satu kes tu, internet kt jabatan down, dari pagi sampai lah pukol 4 petang, kalo kt private aku rasa dah kene bambu atau worst case kena buang keje, tapi sebab dia skrg rasa 'selamat', dia just harapkan bdk2 dia je buat. bdk2 dia ni mmg la technician, tapi kalo bos diarang pon sengal, dierang pon jadi sengal, bayangkan je la, network diagram latest pon tak ada, ip pon tak ingat, password lagi lah tak ingat, pastu yang paling aku benci, tak menerima pendapat org. aku pagi tu ada la buat sikit check pasal masalah network ni, maklum la aku pon bertahun2 buat keje network ni, skrg ni je tercampak kt bhgn lain.

aku ping, tracert, aku ping external ngn internal kaki firewall, aku ping router, sume tak ok, intermittent, aku bgla tau minah sekor ni, "ko kene check internal dulu ni, switch,router, firewall sume..." boleh dia reply " ni masalah jaring ni" suka2 je cakap masalah jaring. kalo dah ping internally pon sangkut, mesti lah kt dalam, bdk U first sem pon tau mende ni.. b****k betol la.

pastu, bila dia jawab camtu, aku pon malas nak campur tgn, dah satu jabatan aku yg menggunakan sistem utk buat keje kire mendapat satu hari cuti sambil berehat2 di opis. tapi sebabkan aku sangap nak surf internet, pas lunch aku panggil technician minah ni, aku cite kat dia masalah sebenar, aku suruh dia tgk internal part dulu, switch ke, router ke firewall ke, aku tunjuk dia ping ngn tracert aku, dan dia nampak mcm paham masalah tuh, tapi dia reply " kita dah panggil vendor dah" aku cakap balik " ko tgk dulu, kang kalo vendor datang ko boleh la cakap apa yg ko dah buat" pastu dia pon check, pada masa sama vendor pon sampai, sama2 la dia ngn vendor gi check, vendor tny minah ni " apa password firewall?" dia pon ngan menggelabahnya tny technician dia, technician dia ni pon menggelabah cakap tak tau, disuruhnya minah ni kol technician sorang lagi yg tgh outstation, pastu baru la tau password apa... pong peng pong peng vendor tu buat kerja dia, aku dgr la perbualan dia sebab bilik aku sebelah je bilik minah sengal ni. vendor tu cakap ni bukan masalah jaring ni, ni masalah internal ni... kan aku dah cakap awal2 tadi...

pastu vendor tu suruh technician dia ni pi reboot floor switch, then router, then modem jaring, biar lama sikit. then baru on balik satu2. after a while, everything ok, connection restored, what the f**k la, kan senang kalo minah ni dgr cakap aku, check internally, jgn duk blame jaring je, eiii.. geram siot aku.

org mcm ni la yg susahnya, dah la byr vendor tu mahal, bayar per hour, tah2 saja2 je dia buat lelama checkup, padahal dia tau masalah ni dapat selesai ngn reboot je, tp dia pon nak niaga, kene la dia buat2 banyak keje skit, bolih la dia charge lebih sikit. pastu degil, buduh sombong, org lain bagi idea, tak nak dgr, terus buang dalam tong sampah je.

pastu carik la inisiatif, buat la latest diagram, physical ngn layer3 diagram, pastu kalo boleh, check balik rules dalam firewall tuh, tah2 sejak dulu lagi rules sama je, pastu semak balik range ip kt opis nih, aku tgk private ip pakai kelas A, org yg keje sini pon tak samapi 300 org pon, takkan la tu sume nak kene cakap. pastu aku ada bgtau ngn technician yg outstation tu pada keesokan harinya, suruh dia sendiri buat diagram, senang kalo apa2 terjadi nnt.

kita ni sama2 keja kene la tolong menolong, ingat mengingati ngn share ilmu baru la produktif sikit.

last night our PM have announced the new petrol and diesel price in malaysia, a record breaking price hike in almost.... ermm i think since malaysia was established back in 60's... wow congrats Lah... surely will burden most of malaysians since we all are middle income earners...

last night, i was watching channel astro oasis, a program called Halalbio, and the subject in this program attracted me. this program is some kind of documentary program and focussing on health and food i suppose (base on the program's title).

but what caught my attention was, they told that japanese people statistically have the least people in the world that have cancer, eventho they have the most pressure way of living especially in their working-style, one of highest smokers, air pollution and so on, but why do they have a lowest cancer rate among their people?

the question was answered by looking with what they have taken for their diet. as we know, japs take raw fishes, meats and vegetables especially seaweed as their main diet, they eat sushi and many other raw and steamed foods. the program told that raw food such as seaweed consist a vitamin called B-17 that have a combination of 2 sugar molecules, a cyniade and another one i couldn't remember. what? cyniade? this thing have been used by military as a biology weapon and small amount of cyniade could kill human.

but, because of B-17 is the combination of sugar molecule and cyniade, the vitamin is not harm for human use. when a cancer patient take b-17, this thing will surround cancer cell and because the cancer cell have its own defensive unit in the form of enzym, this defensive enzyme will break b-17 molecules (sugar and cyniade) and only cyniade will poison and destroy the cancer cell.

what an interesting story, but what confusing me is why this kind of treatment do not been widely used? is there a side effect of using it? or maybe because of this b-17 is considered as natural resources, so no one have right to patent it and make money out of it so this kind of technique have been ban by doctors all over the world? i dont know... so this kind of documentary triggers my conciousness of the importance of to take supplementary and healthy foods as part of our diet...

what make me 'fall in love' towards my job...

right now, I'm facing a big test regarding my job as government servant. whether to continue or just carry on with it. the problem is, i feel like i cant 'fall in love' with the job I'm currently doing. there are a few criteria to spark a 'love' feeling towards the job. ok, for me the criteria as follows:

1. minat towards the thing you are doing. for me, i like network, security and server stuffs
2. environment... right now, my office didn't have the environment as same as my previous one.
3. friend...i don't have friend over here
4. money.. yeah this thing drive you but for me as long it can pay all your bills n needs, it's ok

from all the above, my first priority is my love towards the job. eventho, if i'm doing new things, if there is a bit of 'minat' towards it, i can guarantee that you will eventually fall in love with the job you do. i still remember when i got my last job as network engineer in putrajaya, i don't have a single bit of experience and knowledge about ATM technology (network) but, because of my love with network, it just need 1 month for me to understand it and another 6 month to master it.

pririty number 2 and 3 also is important as priority number 1. this two type of things is essential because they can provide you with happiness and laughter in your life. and right now, i don't have both. damn!

the first three priority are very important for me. because, with the good mixture of the three, will generate responsible feeling and long lasting love towards the job, and for sure will eliminate any laziness and hatred towards your job.

and the last one... money. the most important thing in life for many people, but not so important for me. for me, as long as i can pay all bills, buy food, give some to my parents and save lil' bit for future use, it's OK. and right now, alhamdulillah. but, if i cant get more from another job, why not go for it, right?

so, my temporary solution right now is to just 'layankan je', but in the meantime, find a way to get transfer to another department which have a vacant position for network unit, and if my request cannot be granted, then i will know that the time has come to seek a new job or in a simplest word... quit.

pergh... it's been a year ago since i posted sumthing on this blog... there were many things to update here involving my life. first of all, i took a gomen job last month, a decision that still need to be reconsider eventho have already lapor diri. there are many issues with the job that make my life eversince a month ago become like sh*t.

first of all, i didnt like the job, in other word is i didnt like programming.. yes, ladies and gentlemen, i'm working for application development department which need me to understand and write code for other people's leftover scrappy and bullsh*t jobs. make sick when i'm going to understand the-not-well-documented application. f**k, man! for 6 million project, this is what they can come out with.. oh what a useless piece of sh*t.

then, the environment here, is also sickening my eyes, nothing compared to private office, at here you can do anything, you can talk all day, you can eat and drink at your desk, you can even sewing your client cloths here too. hahahaha. in simple word, you can do whatever you wanted to do, as long as you stay at the office. damn!

what a life! i want to askt for transfer to other department. please help me!

a weekend of tiredness and full of joy

More than 600 kilometres of journey, more than 8 hours of driving, nearly 300 ringgit of spending, but a full of joy.

last weekend, me and a couple of friends hitted the road to raub, jerantut, jengka and port dickson which was so tiring but can be considered as an adventoruous rides.

actually, my intention was to go to fetch my sister at uitm jengka since she has one week off for mid-semester break and want to bring along her pc to be fixed by me, so my mom asked me to fetch her so she didn't have to struggle to bring the pc by bus.

on the way to jengka, we planned to drop by to our school, semesta in raub which me and my friends have spent 5 years of our life studying there, where good memories remain.

then, we hitted the road to jengka but using the old road, not LPT, so we have to drive slow on a small and remote district of pahang towards jengka where we'll driving across kuala lipis and jerantut before reaching jengka. the road was so small and full of corners that make the journey tiring.

on the way to jengka, we saw small houses and its occupants in a very remote kampung which i would describe it as a slow time passing area, peoples who live in such places must have all time in the world for their own life compared to wild and busy days at cities like KL.

when we arrived at jengka, my sister was ready with her things and the pc to be brought back to KL, and on the way back we agreed to use highway to KL since it's already late and looking to the skies, maybe it's gonna rain heavily later that day.

the next day, me and friends were going to PD for our school reunion at ilham beach resort, although i just finish my night work shift that night, but the feeling of excitement vanished my sleepy and tiredness.

we arrived to the resort and were welcomed by the organizer who also friends of ours back at school. we were giving instruction and tentative programs of activities that will be done there, but before the activities started, me and friends enjoy a good swimming in the sea before one of us poped out an idea to ride a banana boat.

the ride was quite kewl and a lil bit of 'seram' because none of us ever ride a banana boat. we asked the banana boat brother to 'throw' us two times in the sea, where there was a funny incident happened to me on the first throw, hahahaha. i'll not gonna to tell you here about the incident. heheh

later that night, we have a nice barbeque and karoeke session. i have to quit the karaoke session early because i felt very sleepy and have to go to bed early that night. the next day, we have tressure hunt games. and after a nice swimming at the resort's pool, we shot to KL.

overall, i quite satisfied with the reunion activities, the foods, the resort itself, but it will be nicer if we stayed there a lil longer. we met all long lost friends, the girls especially, we all have a good chat among others and for me it's the real escape from my work's burden.

until i write this post, my body still feel 'lenguh' and still feel the tiredness of the journey, despite that i feel very satistied and overjoy!

heard last week that thousands people were trapped at lrt station when heavy rain droped at KL. when talk about lrt, i found sumting funny about it, as we know lrt means light rapid transit, and mrt in singapore means mass rapid transit, so does mtr in hong kong, means sumting like mass transit rail or sumting.

can thou see it? mass and light. that's why our lrt service is poor, they look at their service lightly, and everything about them is light. heheh.

last saturday, i gave my old 14" samtron crt monitor to my sister for her pc, she's studying at uitm pahang rite now and need pc for her daily work and assignments. so, i just gave her with no regret. actually the monitor was my slack box monitor at sri kembangan, and now i dont have monitor to locally administer my slack box. i just use putty to ssh to the box.

but when i managed to install and run bittorrent on my slack box, i stumble upon a problem that i didnt foresee when decision was made to give the monitor to her. whenever i download sumting from the net using bittorent or doing some stuff, i cannot stop from 'ssh'ing the box from my laptop, if i do so, the downloading will be stop because i have terminated my ssh session with the box, and kill all processes that running in the session.

so, how do i keep downloading stuff without killing the process running in my session?

after doing some research and asking in the net, i found a kewl thing that can actually keep me doing stuff without kill the process running, that is 'screen'.

screen is some kinda terminal that allow you to manage many process in one physical terminal, each process got their own virtual windows, so we can jump from a windows to another in order to manage our processes.

so here goes the command:

to start a virtual windows -> #screen -S ur-windows-name

then you can bittorrent or doing your stuff here, if you want to detach frm the window, just ctl-a+d, and if you want to jump into the window back, type:

#screen -x ur-windows-name

and if you want to kill the window, just type exit. that's all. kewl eh?

for your information, screen have dependencies on utempter in order to run.

a broadband line and satelite dish

For the last two weeks, faread and i were eagerly waiting to have streamyx and astro to serve us for a better living at sri kembangan. we have submit application to telekom to connect a telephone line to our house but as usual their vendor keep making us waiting for the installation. we pushed telekom to instruct their vendor to come to our house quickly, by giving them many reasons so that they will come here. hehehe.

and after 2 weeks of waiting, they came last tuesday (8/8/06) to install telephone line, but the main objective that we wanted a telephone line is to access internet via streamyx. and then the same problem come again, vendor for streamyx f**k up, they dont even come to our house, so faread went to TM Point and register streamyx by himself without using vendor, just took home some information and streamyx cd and start configuring the line. and at last, with a simple dialing process, our adsl modem start roaring to transmit data from all over places to our laptops. hehehe. on the same day, a vendor from astro came to our house to installed astro dish, and the next two days, our account was activated. so now, our house is fully complete, minus washing machine and refrigerator left to buy.

i got many things in mind for our streamyx here, first i planned to use my old pc as router and firewall to the lan, or maybe just a file server to the lan, where i can dump all my file and movies to the server there. but for now, my intention to make a router out of the box is postpone, since my old pc doesnt have extra pci slot to install another network card. damn. for the last two weeks, i have configured the box to running on slackware 10.2 and also configure samba service for file sharing and apache for http service, and it work just fine. but, there is a time when i thought that i would use my slack box to dial streamyx using rp-pppoe instead of using modem to dial and act as router than being a simple bridge, i guess when we use the modem as a router and firewall, it will significantly affected its performance, thus slow down the connection, so that's why i want to use my slack box to dial streamyx via rp-pppoe, and use iptables to filter the unwanted connections and packets, but it come to no avail.

but for now, i just connect to internet by using our modem to dial and act as a router, in the mean time i'll try to find a way and solution to rp-pppoe in slackware.

Arsenal: Sayonara Ash...

Lately there is a news in the world of football regarding unsettled Ashley Cole about his future with Arsenal, the club he joined since he was a schoolboy. He wanted to go out from Ashburton Grove to join big spending club, Chelshit of Stamford Bridge.

The problem started when Arsenal accused Cole and his agent for conducted a meeting with Chelshit representative, Mr. Kenyon, about possible move out of Arsenal, and what furious most to the one of the world's best leftback was about how Arsenal (his beloved team) tapped up the meeting.

And now, the relationship between them becoming more worse when Arsenal official Mr Dein put a high tag price to 25 million pound for Chelshit to snap the England left back from Arsenal - what seems to Cole, a broken promise that was made when he agreed to put sign on one year extension contract with Arsenal.

From the reading and rumours that i've read, it seems that Cole wanted a new deal with Arsenal to top-up another 30K pound to his current weekly wages to 85K pound a week. And of course, for those who knew well about Arsenal is, they're really particular whenever it come to money spending, they bought players for a low price and converted them to a world class players, that is Arsenal 'philosophy'.

But for me, I think it's better to let Cole go to the Russion billionaire's team because he already lost his confidence about his future at Arsenal, for a perfect price of course - 15 million should be OK. Because, we already have Flamini and Clichy, whom will be watching this saga eagerly.

With the money they got, they can buy one or two new faces to strengthen up the defence and midfield or even can be used to buy a new partner for Henry at the up front. With the retirement of the legendary Dutch Master Bergkamp from the world of football, it left magical touch between midfielder and stiker.

The departure of want-away Cole from Arsenal will also mean that only Walcot left as an Englishmen at the club. I suggest Wenger to buy promising young defender, Curtis of WBA as a backup for Senderos-Toure, if one of them caught injured.

I can't imagine how it will be when Arsenal facing Cole whenever they met each other in domestic or europe matches, it make me sad to think of it. I do remember when Cole was asked if he ever play against his teammates, and he replied he couldn't imagine of that ever happened and hoped that he would stay at Arsenal. Look now, janji tinggal janji, heheh.

But for me, Ash is a typical left back without Wenger, only under Wenger he got freedom to come out infront to assist Henry, just look how he played for England, he just like other attacking left back, a typical one. At Arsenal, he can plays on touch football on the outside line of the field with Pires and Henry, but I can't see how he could do that with other players, especially with Joe Cole, who prefer to control the entire left flank by him self. But who knows what he could do, because he is a natural born attaciking left back, just need time to adapt to Chelshit style.

A friend of mine, Zerrow, asking me about cron feature in Linux. He wanted to add rule/job to the linux firewall (iptables) so that in a certain of time, there will stop a certain user from accessing Internet. Is it a kewl feature for a cruel network admin? Hahahah

So, basically he already built a script to stop the lan for certain users.

so, now he wanted that this script will be executed after office hour, let say after 5 pm, everyday. He already put some configuration in crontab, like below:

but, unfortunately the script wont run and he asked how to configure crontab. I put some effort to Google about crontab, and found out that he forgot to put user column in the crontab. So, the config should be like this:

and, he tried it, and said the crontab succesfully run. Heheh. Just use my a little bit of time and effort to solve this guy's problem.

'Potong' and EPF

Why does a Toyato Vios in Indonesia can cost you far more cheap compared to Malaysia? Eventhough a Vios is expensive here, (Rm 80K) why do Malysian still buy that car, it just not one or two people buy it, but many. Why there is still 'lambakan' new and used car in market eventhough the car price has been lowered recently?

Why?

These are some questions need to be thinked about by our local car makers. Not by asking Government to allow people to use their EPF money to fund our car loan or pay our car deposit charge, it's just a short cut solution for me. This is all temporary solution only. They should think a more concrete solution to solve the root problem that cause all the above questions, especially for our national car makers - make people buy a national car.

To make Malaysians buy a national car, "Potong" should bear in mind that people will put in their considerations about the quality of the car that they want to buy, they are not people from the 80's that can just buy and use a 'pasang siap' car, where-by there are more high quality car in the market to compared of. So, the quality is the main factor here.

Speaking about quality, for many of us quality is one of the de facto in our decision to buy a car. We buy a car for a long term of usage, it is not like buying a bicycle for our children, where in two years time, the bicycle will be sat below our house staircaase. We buy a car so that it can bring us to work and balik kampung and for a long term of usage, maybe 5 to 10 years to come. So we need a reliable, free of major broke-down car. And, i can't see any "protong" car can meet that expextations, except for Perdana that cause you more $$$.

Have you seen a Toyota having problems at the highway? Not that much compared to Proton car, i supposed. Why? because Toyota took quality of its product to the maximum, people in the whole world know that a Toyata car rarely having problems, except for minor components changes that have to be made for certain time, like timing belt and so on.

I have a Proton Iswara, and i already use it for about 2 years time, and frankly speaking, I encountered many problems about that car, mainly the problems are about quality and the finishing touch from the production line. For example, the lock button for each door, there is a gap between the button and the door's hole, that whenever my car running on a rough road it will generates an irritating sound - nyit-nyit-nyit kinda sound. Before this there is a also a sound from the back seat due to loose lock between the back seat and the car's body, but i managed to solve it by myself, it is sometime makes me wonder whether i am a Operator for Proton or am i a Proton's customer, i dont know. Not to mention about air cond system of the car, too slow and only blows cool air from the middle hole instead of all four hole at the dashboard, plus some noise from the engine part maybe come out from the belt inside, I dont know.

So, Proton or Potong, please lah, improve your product quality, tak malu kah tengok orang Malaysia tetap sanggup mahu membeli kereta imported yang mahal? sebab mereka yakin dengan kualiti kereta luar. Bring back our confident towards your cars, because I am a Malaysian and I'm supporting Malaysian product, but if this quality problems still occured, how can I support you.

I hope Neo and others future Proton's car will not share the same destiny like your previous car. I hope.

Pergh.. it's been a while since my last post here. Been buzy lately, with the job i currently working right now, it''s drain my energy and time, but hopefully it also sharpen my skills and knowledge i hope.

Actually, i have 'moved' from my family house at wangsa maju to sri kembangan nearly two weeks ago, and for the time being, i really feels good living there, with the distance to Putrajaya is about 15 km and 10 minutes journey compared when i ulang-alik frm wangsa maju to putrajaya 50 km in one way and consume nearly one hour journey, it's relieve me a lot.

At my new rent house here, i also have my own room, i thinks it's quite kewl i guess. i have many things in mind to buy for my room and the house to make it look more like a family house then a bachelor house, yesterday, i bought a set of sofa from lelong.com comes with a sliding door curtain, although my house have no sliding door, i also brought my 21 inches LG tv, my tilam, a standing fan, a table, a table for my room, plastic cupboard (planning to buy a wood ones one day). me and my housemate planning to subscribe astro and streamyx, buy washing machine and freezer, and i'm targetting to buy a BED.... a single bed. and will also going to buy a new tilam for the bed, and save the old one for visitors who come to my house or for a better sleep, i can make it dua lapis. Hahaha.

Since i 'left' my family to go to school at 13 years of age, i have lost my bed to my brothers at home, i rarely slept at my used-to-be-bed at home, and after that, i left for UTM, and rent a bachelor house with friends, and once again didnt have my own bed, i always sleep on a 'tilam lapok yang nipis' on floor at that house although i have a double decker bed but i was too lazy to climb up to my bed because i got the upper ones and to added more to my laziness was the position of my bed just inches a way from the room's pendaflour lamp, i couldn't sleep in a very bright room, makes me feel hot and discomfort. after finished my studies at UTM, i went back to 'pangkuan keluarga', and still sleep on the floor. nearly twelve years of my life, i slept on the floor and DONT HAVE MY OWN BED!, it makes me forget how it feels sleeping all the time on ur own bed. Heh!

Being living at sri kembangan is like living at a small town, still in development phases, although Jusco just opened there earlier this month, plus a lot unoccupied houses and shopping lot there, but the environment is quite for me, maybe the houses are not fully occupied, and the area still new. it reminds me when my family first moved to wangsa maju from sg penchala in 1987, the situation is the same, didnt have many peoples live there, and if u do come to wangsa maju now, it's very pack and buzy place to live, with jusco, lrt, shools, shopping lots, carrefour, giant, and many more. i even having difficulties to park my car, all family at the flat have car, even some family have more than one car plus jusco's customers' car, it hardly to find a parking space at prime time.

i think, it took about 5 to 10 years to make one place pack with people. and one day, i'm very sure that sri kembangan will be just like wangsa maju.

in the mean time, i hope that i can live peacefully and comfortably here.

Went fishing again!

Last sunday, me and amat and ustat went fishing again, and now the location quite different from our previous fishing spot. we fished at sg rasa, at batang kali, at a river dude!!!

Got two lampams for 4 hour fishing... nevermind, a small step to a big adventure i hope. We planned to go fishing at sea next month, at Pelabuhan Klang. They said fishing at sea will be far more different and daring. Nedd to prepare myself for this upcoming event, hehehe.

Computer Security - Honeyd: How to Simulate Networks

Ok, for this entry I would like to continue writing about Honeyd. And if you look at the title up there, you should get a little bit overview about what I'm going to write. If you cant see the overview or even have no idea about what is Honeyd, you can read my previous entries regarding this small daemon.

For this guide, our physical network contains 4 pc plus a system that going to be our test ground that we will designate as a Honeyd host. Our honeyd host running on Linux and our physical network has been configured for 10.0.0.0/24 and honeyd host private ip is 10.0.0.1.

Okay, for this purpose of writing, we will try to simulate 2 Windows pc in our Honeyd host.Let's put a name for them, Virtual Honeypot1 and Virtual Honeypot 2 and their IP is 10.0.0.51 and 10.0.0.52. The blue dotted line indicates the Honeyd host that simulate our virtual honeypots.

Before configuring our honeyd host, we need to make sure that the host can response to ARP request for the IPs of virtual honeypots that we are hosting. For that purpose, we need to install arpd software to spoof arp response on behalf of the honeypots.

After we have install it, lets run the software by typing the command below

#arpd 10.0.0.0/8

and now arpd will response on behalf of any unused IP in 10.x.x.x address.

Ok, now is the time to configure our honeyd host. We need to configure a configuration file (honeyd.conf) to host our virtual honeypots

The above configuration will bind the two IP to a template called windows. This template tells honeyd to present itself as a Windows NT 4.0 SP5-SP6 whn an attacker tries to fingerprint the honeypot using Nmap. 5 ports are open on both of honeypots, 80/tcp, 137/tcp, 137/udp, 139/tcp and 135/udp. When a client or an attacker connects to port 80, honeyd will engage them with an iis emulator perl script. You can download many scripts that are available on the Internet to simulate any port/system behaviour. For closed port, honeyd will sent a RST flag to the attacker in the case of TCP, while ICMP Port Unreachable Message for UDP.

Then, it's time to make our configuration to take effect. Run the command as below:

#./honeyd -f honeyd.conf 10.0.0.51-10.0.0.52

At this point, honeyd start to response to any packet for our two virtual honeypots. Ip of hoenyd host can still be reachable, and if we want to the host, the IP should be firewalled.

Ok, now we will simulate a simple network using honeyd, involving of simulation of a Cisco router. Our simulated network using 10.0.1.0/24 address space, containing 2 honeypots and separated from our physical network LAN with a Cisco router R1 shown below.

To simulate a network, we first create the virtual router and bind it to 10.0.0.100.

Router R1 is the entry point to the virtual network from the LAN, the 'route entry' configuration is used to specify the entry point.

The above line instructs our honeyd that router at 10.0.0.100 is the entry point to our virtual network 10.0.0.0/16. The 10.0.1.0/24 network is directly reachable from the router R1.the 'router link' configuration command is used to specify which network is directly reachable and does not require further hops to be reached. The command is as below

route 10.0.0.100 link 10.0.1.0/24

The command above tells us that the first IP is the router's IP and the second one is a network that is directly accessible. The two honeypots at 10.0.1.51 and 10.0.1.52 can be setup by binding the two IP address to our Windows honeypot template.

Machine ngn rod aku

Ikan keli ngn belida yg dah disiang mak aku

Rasanya dah cukup lama aku tak update blog ni. Actually, skrg ni quite bz jugak la sbb 'in tansition phase' nak beralih ke kerja baru. By the way, skrg pon aku dah ada hobi baru, iaitu memancing. Hahaha, sebenarnye dah lama dah minat memancing nih, dari kecik lagi minat tapi tak berpeluang. Sekarang dah kerja, so dapat la aku merealisasikan impian memancing amatur aku nih.

Ahad lepas aku, mat sah (shah) ngn hasri a.k.a. abe yie (hahahah) merancang la untuk gi memancing kt kolam berbayar, tp masalahnya takde port la plak, so hasri pon tepon long lost friend dia Ucu yg tinggal kt Semenyih tanya mana tau dia tau plak port yg bes untuk memancing amatur mcm aku ngn mat sah. Bincang punye bincang, Ucu suggested kan kt Sg Tekala punye tempat mancing, then tanpa berlengah lagi kitarang bertiga shoot ke Semenyih utk berjumpa Ucu, Padil and Pak Teh. Depa ni ni mmg selalu duk mancing sana.

Dari semenyih ke Sg Tekala amik masa 20 minit ikut jalan belakang, siap lalu perkuburan Cina Nirvana yg ada Kepala naga tuh, dah la malam, jln punye la sunyi gelap gempita. Kitarang gerak dua kete, kete aku ngn kete Pak Teh. Sesampai je di tempat memancing yg diberi nama Seri Bayu Fishing Pond tuh, kiterang pon apo laie, melabuhkan la 3 batang joran, Hasri satu, Pak Teh satu and aku ngan Mat Sah kongsi satu. 4 jam memancing haram tak sentuh pon ikan kt umpan kiterang tuh. Haram tul lah. Melayang 20 ringgit untuk setiap joran. Pak Teh awal2 lagi dah sound kata kalo kite beli dedak dari kedai kt kolam pancing ni, sure punye ikan tak makan, dia dah muak kot sbb tuan kolam mesti duk bg makan ikan tu ngn dedak kedai tuh. Ye tak ye jugak ek.

Kendian, kiterang pulang dgn tangan kosong dan hati yg kecewa, dan pada keesokkan paginya, aku pi beli joran aku punye sendiri, Hahahahaha, beli machine, beli rod, mata kail, batu ladung, beli itu ini, dekat RM100 gak la. Pastu aku ngn Hasri ngan Mat Sah pon pi la ke Empangan Klang Gate, konon nye nak test power la, pon kecewa jugak tak dapat pape ikan. Dah masuk fourth time ni, kiterang balik tangan kosong.

Tp kiterang ni punya hati yg cekal, tak mudah putus asa, pas maghrib kiterang bertiga shoot plak ke kolam kt Tmn Sri Rampai dekat area rumah kiterang gak la, masuk ni, dah kali ketiga kiterang test power kt sana. Alhamdulillah dapat dua ekor ikan, keli yg panjangnya sekaki ngn belida besar sket dari tapak tangan aku yg berwarna putih. Umpan nye cengkerik. Cukop sempoi. Got home from evening shift last tuesday, and my mom said that I just got mail, and the mail is quite big for typical astro bill or interview letter for government post i applied. I opened up the mail and to my surprise it was 5 set of Ubuntu cds. WOW, finally i got them. I'm not sure when was i registered to their official website, maybe 2 months ago, i dont quite remember. but, hell with it, the important thing is i got what they promised to give me. Thanks Ubuntu team..

Computer Security - Honeyd Part 1

Honeyd is a thin daemon that can simmulate personality of any operating system, it can also be configured to offer different TCP/IP services such as HTTP, SMTP, SSH, ICMP etc.

Honeyd is used typically for setting up virtual host to engage attackers. One of kewl feature that comes with Honeyd is it can simulate an entire network topology in just one machine - with multiple hops, packet losses and latency, it lets us to simulate complex networks - so that an attackers may think they already get in their target network.

To install Honeyd, you need these apps:

honeyd-1.0 [GPG sig] - Release 2005-01-02
arpd-0.2 - Release 2003-02-10
Honeyd Linux Toolkit - Precompiled binaries for Linux including many service script. Version 1.0c.
dependencies: libevent (an asynchronous event library), libdnet (dumb network library) and libpcap (a packet capture library)

You might need other tools like arpd or proxy arp to get honeyd working for you.

How to install:

For my case, i installed honeyd on my Slackware 10.2 and Fedora Core 3 at home. For the example below, i'll show you how to install honeyd on slackware (compile from source)

first, install the honeyd's dependencies. Default steps, tar -xzvf , cd , ./configure and make && make install. If there is any problem while you compiling the source, read the error message and try to find the solution from google.

then install your honeyd, yup, use the default step to install like the above.

then install arpd

or, if you think those steps are a lil more typing-typing things to do, so you can download RPM version at http://dag.wieers.com/packages/honeyd - the command is : rpm -ivh

First of all, let's define what Honeypot is. I make some reference from wikipedia.org and found the definition from there.

What is Honeynet?

Two or more honeypots on a network form a honeynet. Typically, a honeynet is used for monitoring a larger and/or more diverse network in which one honeypot may not be sufficent. Honeynets and honeypots are usually implemented as parts of larger network intrusion-detection systems.

So, what is Honeypot?

In computer terminology, a honeypot is a trap set to detect or deflect attempts at unauthorized use of information systems. Generally it consists of a computer, data or a network site that appears to be part of a network but which is actually isolated and protected, and which seems to contain information that would be of value to attackers.

Base on my readings from the net, honeypot is a a new technology that let us turn the table on the bad guys. There are many definitions of what honeypot is and what honeypot should accomplish for them. Basically, there are three main definitions or perceptions of what honeypot is.

1. some people think it's a solution to lure or deceive attackers,
2. some people think honeypot can detect any attack to your network
3. and there are others who think that hoenypot are real computer intended to be attacked and hacked into and learned from

And all the above are all correct. Honeypot is a solution that can be used to detect any attack to your network and also canbe used to deceive an attacker into thinking that there are attacking a real computer. Honeypot can also be categorized in to 2 different thing, production and research, it's all base on your need of use. In production category, honeypot can be used to protect your network by detecting any bad activities on your network, while in research, it can be used to collect information. The informations is important where you can make some early prediction of an attack, build some statistic and so on

What the differences between traditional detection solution? In traditional detection solution, you can get bunch of useless alert in IDS and just a little amount of valid attacks and also with traditional detection solution, are not designed to detect unknown attack. But, with honeyppot it can solve both problems, it generates few attacks, and when it does, it means that something wrong happening on your network.

One of Open Source solution for honeypot is Honeyd. It was created and maintained by Neil Provos. Designed for Unix OS such as Linux and BSD but will be ported to Windows soon.
